Labourer

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a self-motivated and safety oriented individual to fill a full-time hourly Labourer position at our Inspection Service Company. SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a friendly and team oriented candidate to assist us in our future growth.

This position is on a 14×14 work schedule at Kearl Lake Oil Sands. Fly-in/fly-out from Calgary or Edmonton. Bus available to/from Fort McMurray. Camp provided.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians with preparation of equipment
  • Shovel ground to access bottom of pipe spools
  • Prepare surfaces for UT inspection (use of wire brush, scraper, solvent cleaners, etc.)
  • Assist NDT Technicians by making detailed notes
  • Use stencils and spray paint to mark thickness monitoring locations on pipe for future inspections
  • Clean equipment at the end of the day
  • Assist with keeping a tool crib tidy
  • Cleaning trucks
  • Helping MT Technicians with internal WFMPI
  • Clean pins/links on apron feeders during line outages
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner when interacting

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience in a labourer or related position
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Experience in industrial settings considered an asset
  • Experience with hand tools considered an asset (e.g., buffing wheels)
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and OSSA Fall Protection
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Read and write in English
  • Ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Experience working in confined spaces and working from heights
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
