API Inspector

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a certified, self-motivated and safety oriented individual to fill a full-time hourly API Inspector position at our Inspection Service Company. This position requires regular out of town travel with readiness for possible short notice travel.  SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a friendly and team oriented candidate to assist us in our future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of pressure equipment for required client onsite facilities while maintaining a high level of integrity and quality
  • Oversee repair, alteration and maintenance for equipment assigned and ensure related documentation is maintained
  • Responsible for preparing, implementing, and maintaining pressure vessel inspection programs in accordance with the quality management system (QMS), including report writing and documentation
  • Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
  • Understand and complete work assignments as per company inspection procedures, in a timely, effective and competent manner
  • Document and record findings identified in inspections performed
  • Complete field sketches as required in accordance with approved procedures
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns
  • Responsible to mentor and provide guidance to assistant crew members
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient and professional manner when interacting
  • Resolve client questions, concerns or complaints

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Valid API-510 Certification
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as an API-510 Inspector
  • ABSA In-Service Pressure Vessel (IPV) certification
  • CGSB II-UT, CGSB II-MT, CGSB II-PT and/or API 510, API 570, API 653 certifications (API 571, API 579, API 580, ABSA IBPV, ABSA IPV, TSASK PEI1/2,) are considered assets
  • CWB certifications considered an asset
  • IRATA Rope Access certification considered an asset
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined space entry and rescue and OSSA Fall protection
  • Prior experience leading a crew considered an asset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Read and write in English
  • Ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Ability to lead and delegate
  • Experience working in confined spaces and working from heights
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities that may involve moving, setting up, and operating inspection equipment
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
  • Security background check and drivers abstract will be a condition/requirement upon acceptance of employment
