OHS Coordinator

Description

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a certified, self-motivated and safety oriented individual to fill a full-time hourly OHS Coordinator position at our Inspection Service Company. This is a fly in fly out position, that will help conduct all health and safety activities to support the HSE Manager and management team on a field level basis. We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and a passion for health and safety who is looking to grow and develop their career.
 SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a friendly and team-oriented candidate to assist us in our future growth.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • HSE and Oil and Gas Experience considered an asset (3 to 5 years preferred)
  • A certificate or Diploma in health and safety or in a related field
  • A strong work ethic with excellent communication skills
  • The ability to maintain positive working relations with co-workers and clients, and
  • Exceptional safety and quality awareness
Responsibilities: 
  • Advise managers and employees about relevant safe work standards, practices, procedures, and regulations
  • Evaluate work activities to determine potential hazards and ensure that adequate controls are in place
  • Assess and support the safe work practices and procedures for compliance with all governing bodies
  • Lead and assist with site inspections, hazard assessments, safety meetings and field audits
  • Assist in incident investigations ensuring they are completed fully, and that appropriate root causes and corrective actions are identified and implemented
  • Assist in ordering personal protective equipment
  • Assist with development and implementation of the Joint Work Site Health & Safety Committee
  • Comply with all formal communication and reporting expectations
  • Act as a liaison to and for the HSE Manager and field staff members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), knowledge of Avetta, Compyworks and ISN considered an asset
  • Training supervisors and staff on SUMMIT’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
  • Perform safety audits as required by policy and legislative requirements
  • Provide or coordinate HSE training, both SUMMIT and client’s required
  • Work with HSE Manager to measure relevant HSE Statistics, review policies and procedures, and collaborate on safety initiatives
  • Conduct safety meetings with HSE Manager
  • Stop any jobs that are deemed unsafe and lead the way to attempt to resolve issues
  • Other administrative duties as necessary
