NDT Technician

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a CGSB certified, self-motivated and safety oriented individual to fill a full-time hourly NDT Technician position at our Calgary, Alberta Inspection Service Company. The ideal candidate must be permitted to legally work in Canada. This position requires regular out of town travel with readiness for possible short notice travel.  SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a friendly and team oriented candidate to assist us in our future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Detecting deficiencies using NDT methods and procedures of inspection
  • Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
  • Understand and complete work assignments as per company inspection procedures, in a timely, effective and competent manner
  • Document and record findings identified in inspections performed
  • Complete field sketches as required in accordance with approved procedures
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Oversee repair and maintenance for equipment assigned and ensure related documentation is maintained
  • Record results of inspections and perform NDT methods and other operations
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns
  • Responsible to mentor and provide guidance to assistant crew members
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient and professional manner when interacting
  • Resolve client questions, concerns or complaints

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in NDT field as a certified technician in at least one (1) NDT method
  • Certified CGSB Level II in a minimum of one methods (Phased Array, UT, PT, MT)
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined space entry and rescue and OSSA Fall protection.
  • CWB certifications considered an asset
  • IRATA Rope Access certification considered an asset
  • Prior experience leading a crew considered an asset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Read and write in English
  • Ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Experience working in confined spaces and working from heights
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities that may involve moving, setting up, and operating inspection equipment
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
  • Security background check and current drivers abstract is required prior to employment acceptance
